{Hiking Utah} South Ridge, Mt. Superior

First light on the south ridge of Mt. Superior

The south ridge of Mount Superior (in Little Cottonwood Canyon, UT) has been on my bucket list for so long. Last week, Heinz and I ventured out to tackle the south ridge and see what it was all about. From the get go I felt positive and confident that we would get to the peak successfully. I wasn't nervous or scared (which is unusual since I have a fear of heights) just determined to get to the top, safely of course. With sheer cliffs on either side it takes a little more time, patience and a bit of skill to maneuver up and over this jagged crag ridge.

It was awesome to finally get this much anticipated ridge under my belt. I was so stoked when we got to the top, I couldn't top smiling. I don't want to say that the ridge was easy, but it felt like no problem. We knew what we had to do and did it. Heinz kept saying we should have done this ridge a long time ago but to be honest with you I don't know if I would have felt as confident doing it at an earlier time. I felt like it was just meant to be. That all of the other ridges and times being exposed on cliffs had prepared us (or me) in particular for this scramble-climb. I feel like now this is the only way I want to go to get to the top of Mt. Superior. It feels great to accomplish these little life goals.
Now on to more challenging adventures.

Here we go!
Our first hurdle - getting up and over that jagged crag. Success!

The mailbox on top of Superior - haha, unicorns :)

After getting to the top of Mt. Superior, we headed down the more popular (and easier) route via Cardiff Pass which made a nice loop for our morning adventure. Here is a look back at the south ridge.
