Heinz turned a year older on Monday, but that hasn’t stopped him from being a kid at heart.
For Heinz’s birthday I had planned to do this, but since the weather wasn’t cooperating we had to reschedule for another day. Instead of soaring through the air like birds, we went skiing and with several inches of fresh snow, it was a delight.
I made Heinz a special birthday dessert filled with chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. Did I mention that Heinz LOVES chocolate? These scratch brownies with chocolate frosting and raspberry sauce were to die for. They turned out perfect and everything was homemade. No box brownies here. Heinz was in chocolate heaven.
Heinz was also very excited about the gifts from family. Specifically this one:
He was thrilled with everything. (Thanks you guys for the thoughtful gifts, calls, & warm wishes.)
Last, we went to dinner at a nice European style restaurant downtown called Martine Cafe. Heinz had the prosciutto wrapped beef filet with marsala jus & potato dauphinois and I had the almond crusted black cod with blood orange maltaise & beluga lentils. It was perfect, elegant, and so delicious. It was the type of food that looks so pretty that you don’t want to eat it and mess up the beauty on the plate. The vibe of Martine’s is fancy yet comfortable and very inviting. We will definitely be back.
To say the least, Heinz had a great birthday and we still have paragliding to look forward to. Hooray
